Kharkiv city allocates UAH 40 mln more to fight coronavirus spread

The executive committee of the Kharkiv City Council has allocated UAH 40 million more from the city budget reserve to fight the coronavirus spread.

First Deputy Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated this at a meeting of the commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"These funds, UAH 40 million, will be spent to purchase medical equipment and means of protection. This includes the purchase of 20 medical ventilators costing UAH 1-2 million each,” he said.

The city has already bought 16 ultrasound devices and five medical ventilators.

As Ukrinform reported, the Kharkiv City Council at its extraordinary meeting on March 18 allocated UAH 20.5 million to fight the coronavirus spread.

As of the morning of March 23, Ukraine had 73 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, three of which were lethal. One patient recovered.
