Ukraine, Turkey to enhance cooperation in maritime and border security

Ukraine and Turkey have agreed to step up cooperation in the maritime and border security to enhance efforts for combating cross-border crime.

The agreement was achieved during a meeting of Deputy Interior Minister Tetiana Kovalchuk with a delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine, the ministry’s press service reported.

"... We have agreed to enhance the maritime and border security cooperation to effectively tackle cross-border crime and other threats, as well as improve border-crossing procedures for citizens of both countries," reads the statement.

Also, the parties discussed the possibility of training Ukrainian police officers and border guards at the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s educational establishments.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yagmur Ahmet Guldere took part in the meeting.
