Spending review to be conducted at eight ministries in 2020 – Finance Ministry

In 2020, spending review will be conducted at eight ministries and three state institutions, according to the Finance Ministry of Ukraine.

"As part of Ukraine's transition to medium-term budgetary planning, this year the review of state budget expenditures will be conducted in 16 spheres of activity of the main spending units of the state budget. The relevant resolution was approved at a government meeting on March 3,” reads the report.

In particular, spending review will be conducted at: the Education and Science Ministry, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the Health Ministry, the Social Policy Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Infrastructure Ministry, the State Road Agency, the State Judicial Administration and the National Academy of Sciences.

Spending review will be carried out by specially created working groups consisting of representatives of the relevant spending units and the Finance Ministry, as well as independent experts. Working groups will analyze the areas and work out at least two options for achieving the objective of the review in the relevant field. Relevant reports will be submitted to the government by December 1, 2020 and subsequently published on their own websites.
