Ceasefire violations drive back peace process in Donbas – Ukraine at TCG meeting

Ukrinform
The Ukrainian side at a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas called for a full ceasefire, the opening of new checkpoints on the contact line and the release of detainees.

Darka Olifer, the spokesperson for Ukraine's representative in the TCG Leonid Kuchma, wrote this on her Facebook page following the TCG’s meeting in Minsk on February 26, 2020.

"The Ukrainian side called on the Russian Federation to ensure a ceasefire, open new checkpoints on the contact line, release the detainees, provide access for representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross," she wrote.

The Ukrainian side said that an attempt by the illegal armed groups of ORLO to organize a provocation on February 18 could undermine the process of peaceful settlement in Donbas.

Olifer noted that systemic ceasefire violations are not just slowing down, but throwing back the process of peaceful settlement.

On February 26, the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine met in Minsk, Belarus.
