Ukraine calls on world community to condemn escalation in Donbas

Ukrinform
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on the international community to condemn the offensive attempts by Russian-backed forces in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in eastern Ukraine.

"Very concerned by escalation in Donbas following the latest Russian attack. Prohibited weapons used resulting in a new wave of casualties. This is the latest breach of agreements reached at N4. We call on the intl. community to condemn this escalation," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kateryna Zelenko wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the enemy’s attack on the Ukrainian positions in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area a cynical provocation and an attempt to disrupt the peace process in Donbas.

On the morning of February 18, Russian-backed forces attacked the positions of Ukrainian Joint Forces units near the villages of Novotoshkivske, Orikhove, Krymske and Khutir Vilnyi. As a result of the combat, one Ukrainian soldier was killed, and four others were wounded.
