U.S. will not appoint special envoy for Donbas – Herbst

Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst doubts that the United States will appoint its special representative for Donbas.
"Volker is a very talented diplomat ... and the fact that he left the post is a definite loss. As far as I know, they decided not to replace him, and there will not be a new ambassador for this particular case - not in Ukraine, but on the issues of Donbas," Herbst said in an interview with Radio NV.
As for the new U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Herbst noted that he did not know when he would be appointed.
He also called U.S. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Kristina Kvien a competent diplomat.
