UIA plane crash: Five foreign ministers to meet in Munich
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said this at a joint press conference with his Czech counterpart Tomáš Petříček in Prague on Tuesday, February 4, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“During the Munich Security Conference, we plan to hold a meeting of five foreign ministers of nations affected by the downing of our aircraft in Iran. The Munich Conference is a very convenient platform for meetings," the minister said.
Answering the question of whether President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky refused to receive compensation from Iran, Prystaiko assured that that is not so.
“We demand from Iran not only to plead guilty, but also to send us the “black boxes” immediately, and secondly, to solve the issue of compensation to the families of the victims and, finally, even the plane, which they destroyed,” the minister said.
A Ukraine International Airlines plane (Flight PS752) heading from Tehran to Kyiv crashed shortly after taking off from the Imam Khomeini International Airport at about 06:00 Tehran time (04:30 Kyiv time) on Wednesday, January 8. There were 176 people on board – nine crew members (all Ukrainians) and 167 passengers (citizens of Ukraine, Iran, Canada, Sweden, Afghanistan, Germany, and the UK).
On January 11, Iran admitted that its military had accidentally shot down the Ukrainian passenger jet. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accepted full responsibility for the downing of the Ukrainian airliner.
