OSCE chair, Ukrainian ombudsman visit Stanytsia Luhanska

"As part of a working visit to Luhansk region, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Albania's Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Edi Rama, Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, Ambassador Yasar Halit Cevik, Albanian government representatives and Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova have visited the Stanytsia Luhanska entry and exit checkpoint in Luhansk region," the report reads.

The guests got acquainted with the peculiarities of the operation of the checkpoint, the level of passenger flow, and the conditions under which control and inspection procedures are conducted. Of particular concern was the security component at the checkpoint in the event of aggression by Russian forces, which is ensured by border guards from the Ukrainian Joint Forces.

During the visit, Rama noted that the situation is difficult in the conflict-affected areas, especially for the people living there. But the OSCE will do its utmost to change the situation for the sake of the people, he said. Rama also added that the OSCE would do everything it could to reach a lasting truce.
