The bill on countering disinformation will be submitted for public discussion in early January, according to Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Volodymyr Borodiansky.

"The draft law on disinformation is on the final stage of its development... Considering great public importance of this bill, which is primarily about the state and information security, I am deeply convinced that a public dialogue should be carried out. We will submit it for discussion in early January and we will be ready to complete it following the public dialogue," Borodiansky wrote on his Telegram channel.

He noted that experts of the ministry, together with representatives of the media community, were working on the project for one and a half months.

In particular, the bill envisages the introduction of the post of ombudsman for information to counteract misinformation, the increase in accountability for fake news and the creation of a self-governing organization that will develop professional standards and ethics guidelines for media employees.
