U.S. President Donald Trump has approved the U.S. defense budget for 2020, which provides for military assistance to Ukraine and sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, according to The Hill.
"President Trump signed the annual defense policy bill Friday night," the report reads.
It notes that the U.S. president signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) at a ceremony at Joint Base Andrews near Washington. At the same time, Trump stressed that the document establishes the Space Force and gives federal workers 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
The $738 billion compromise bill provides for hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars in military assistance to Ukraine. A separate section in the bill lists sanctions against companies involved in the construction of Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The U.S. defense budget was approved by the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate last week.
