German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas hopes for progress in establishing peace in eastern Ukraine in the coming months.

He stated this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko after the talks in Berlin on December 20, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have to work hard to give new positive signals in the coming weeks and months and to find a political solution to the war in eastern Ukraine that has been lasting too long," the German diplomat said.

Among the important agreements reached in Paris, Maas called the readiness of both parties to comply with the agreements and seek solutions on issues that were not agreed during the Normandy format meeting.

The summit of the leaders of the Normandy Four countries took place in Paris on December 9. The event was attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
