At a meeting on December 18, the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk decided not to agree on a new ceasefire, but to prolong the "ceasefire regime" announced in July 2019.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said this on the air of Ukraine 24 TV Channel on Wednesday evening.

He recalled that since the beginning of the truce, announced in July, 40 people had been killed in Donbas.

“That's why we wanted it to be a ceasefire guaranteed by President Putin. We remember that once the Russian president guaranteed the ceasefire, and there was no shelling for 25 days… We counted on that. The task, unfortunately, was not achieved. We expected that there would be an influence from Moscow, but it did not work," the minister explained.

Prystaiko earlier said that no progress had been made on the issue of prisoner exchange lists during the TCG meeting in Minsk on Wednesday.

A reminder that the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk on December 18 was the first after the Normandy Four summit and the last one in the current year. It was for the first time attended by Swiss diplomat Heidi Grau.
