Minister Koliada outlines priorities of Donbas reintegration
"We are trying to unite our country. The main goal is the mental reintegration, and the restoration of territories follows after. The focus is on a person with problems and needs,” Minister for Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Oksana Koliada said at the plenary meeting of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported from New York.
She thanked all the partners who help Ukraine in this difficult time. According to the minister, 50 humanitarian international agencies work on both sides of the demarcation line, and the aid worth $540 million has been provided over the past five years. Now is the time for "a gradual, but decisive transition from principles of the urgent humanitarian response to effective development programs," Koliada emphasized.
The minister briefed on the tasks solved by the state for the reintegration of Donbas. In particular, the process of crossing the demarcation line for residents of the temporarily occupied territories has been significantly simplified to facilitate their access to administrative, educational and medical services. In addition, Ukraine develops a new effective program for investment development in the region, with a focus on infrastructure projects that may help change the economic structure of the region. Moreover, effective information policy is formed.
