Macron reiterates the need to resume political dialogue with Russia

He stated this at a press conference following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Paris on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The world has changed. The Warsaw Pact ended. Therefore, we are rethinking an important strategy. And we are talking about the resumption of dialogue with Russia. I want to give an impetus to this dialogue,” the French leader said.

In his opinion, the restoration of cooperation with the Russian Federation will contribute to security in Europe.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Thursday, November 28, for a strategic discussion on strengthening the Alliance.

As reported, the next summit with the participation of the leaders of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia (the so-called Normandy Four) is to take place in Paris on December 9.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier that he intended to raise at this meeting the issue of specific terms of Donbas de-occupation, the return of hostages, the resolution of the security situation, and the holding of local elections.
