Russia waging war against NATO – Yatsenyuk

Those who have not yet realized the fact of Russia's war against NATO are either blind or an enemy to the entire union of free European nations, according to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukraine's prime minister in 2014-2016 and the leader of the People's Front political party.

"Russia has waged a war against the Alliance. The Kremlin uses all possible means for that - the local narrow-minded selfishness of some NATO member states, the hopes of some others to grab benefits from Nord Stream 2, and the short-sightedness of those who believe in the Kremlin's negotiability. Those who have not yet realized the fact of Russia's war against NATO are either blind or an enemy to the entire union of free European nations," he wrote on his Facebook page on October 31.

He said that the visit of the North Atlantic Council to Ukraine is an important sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian nation: "We are grateful for that."

However, the People's Front party leader stated that the visit of the NATO secretary general and senior representatives of the Alliance member states is not a mere occasion for compliments: "Ukraine must speak up to our partners about the enormous threat which overshadows all of us."

He stressed that this threat comes from a lack of unity between the Allies.

Yatsenyuk stated that those who obstruct or block full-fledged political support for Ukraine "are working against the entire Alliance."

"Those who are playing an appeasement game with Moscow and exploiting Ukraine's tragedy for their own benefits will not gain any dividends but will cause irreparable harm to the peace and security of entire Europe," Yatsenyuk said.

"A dreadful and aggressive armada that seeks to re-establish the Soviet empire's spheres of influence will smash down the doors that the Alliance holds closed for Ukraine and Georgia," he stressed.

Instead, Arseniy Yatsenyuk said, it is NATO's unity, its strong political will and a clear plan how to accept the two countries into the Alliance "that can stop the enemy and prevent the corrosion and destruction of the Alliance."

"This visit to Ukraine is the opportunity for our Allies to realize their historic responsibility. Hear in our words the hope of a great nation that nowadays protects your countries too," Yatsenyuk wrote.
