G7 welcomes law against illicit enrichment in Ukraine

Ukrinform
The ambassadors of the Group of Seven (G7) countries have welcomed the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a law that returned criminal liability for illegal enrichment.

The G7 Ambassadors’ Support Group in Ukraine wrote about this on its Twitter page on November 5.

"The G7 welcomes law 1031 against illicit enrichment, which demonstrates the political will of both the Parliament and Government to implement rule of law-centred reforms. It also represents a milestone on the path to eradicating corruption in Ukraine," the report reads.

As Ukrinform reported, on October 31, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on the confiscation of illegal assets of persons authorized to perform state or local government functions and the punishment for acquiring such assets," which returned the criminal liability for illegal enrichment, taking into account the findings of the Constitutional Court.
