Russia opposes US participation in Normandy format

Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russia opposes the participation of the United States in the Normandy format talks on the settlement of situation in Donbas.
"The view on possible accession of the United States to this [Normandy] format does not find [Kremlin’s] support," Peskov said, TASS Russian news agency reports.
Peskov said this in response to the statement of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko that it would be impossible to resolve the conflict in Donbas without US participation.
According to the Kremlin representative, the main efforts to resolve the situation should be concentrated in the current "Normandy format": "From the general point of view of the format participants, there is no alternative to it now."
