Ukraine plans to discuss renewal of association agreement with EU before year-end

Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka made a corresponding statement following the talks at the Directorate-General of the European Commission for Trade, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The main question raised during the negotiations was how to reach the renewal of the association agreement because this document provides for such a periodic review. It is very interesting for us to understand the position of the European Union, whether they are willing to do this and whether they are ready to accelerate it. What we see today is a very constructive attitude. We will talk about the modality, conditions, timeframe of this process already this autumn,” Kachka said.

The official reminded that the parties took the first steps in this direction last year. This, in particular, concerns the approval of the annex to the energy agreement necessary for the further dynamic development of the EU-Ukraine relations in the gas and electricity sector and the bilateral agreement on poultry meat export.
