De-occupation of Crimea remains one of OSCE tasks – Chubarov

Restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and de-occupation of Crimea should remain the main task of all international organizations, including the OSCE.

Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said this at the 2019 Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw on September 24, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I want to once again focus on the fact that Russian occupation is the main source of targeted violations of the collective rights of the indigenous people of Crimea, as well as massive violations of human rights on the peninsula. Therefore, de-occupation of Crimea and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine should remain one of the main tasks of the OSCE and other international organizations," Chubarov said.

The chairman of the Mejlis stressed that Russia had cynically ignored all resolutions of the UN, Council of Europe, OSCE and the European Parliament regarding the observance of the rights of Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians.

Chubarov also recalled that in accordance with the OSCE declaration adopted at the 23rd session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in July 2014, Russia in relations with Ukraine since February 2014 had violated all ten principles of the Helsinki Declaration.

As known, Europe’s largest annual human rights conferences - the Human Dimension Implementation Meetings (HDIMs) - bring together hundreds of government officials, international experts, civil society representatives and human rights activists to take stock of how states are implementing their commitments in the human dimension, in other words, the core values that promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
