The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation has appointed Ivan Bakanov as Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

A total of 319 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision on Thursday, August 29, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As reported, on May 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Ivan Bakanov as the first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine. Since May 28, 2019, he has been a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC).
