Rada appoints Vadym Prystaiko as foreign minister

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation has appointed Vadym Prystaiko as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

A total of 310 MPs voted in favor of the relevant decision at the first meeting of the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation on Thursday, August 29, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Article 114 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine shall be appointed to their offices by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine upon the suggestion of the President of Ukraine. Other members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine shall be appointed to their offices by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine upon the suggestion of the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
