Committee of Voters calls on parliament to condemn holding local elections in Crimea

The Ukrainian Committee of Voters has called on the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation to condemn holding local elections in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

The relevant statement to the leaders of parliamentary factions of the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation has been posted on the committee’s Facebook page.

"Ukraine’s Committee of Voters calls on the Verkhovna Rada to condemn the local elections in Crimea and the city of Sevastopol on September 8, 2019," reads the statement.

According to the Committee of Voters, the Verkhovna Rada should give a clear legal assessment of Russia’s intentions to hold local elections in Crimea and to submit a relevant resolution to the international community.

As reported, local elections will take place in the Russian Federation on September 8.
