Presidential representative in Crimea: Ukraine needs law on protection of political prisoners
Anton Korynevych, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea announced this at a press conference in Kherson within the framework of the project “Prisoners of the Kremlin”, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Ukraine will have to pass a bill so that we could have a law on the protection of persons who were illegally imprisoned for political reasons. It seems to me that the corresponding bill was passed in the first reading... It should be finalized or an alternative bill may be submitted. I think that this will be done because everyone understands the importance of this issue, the importance of the state’s response to the challenges we face today,” Korynevych said.
Also, according to him, it is necessary to return to the question of creating an institution that will deal with the protection and release of political prisoners – the prisoners of the Russian Federation.
