PM Groysman: Ukraine needs new law on capital

“I want to say a few words about the local self-government reform. Ukraine obviously needs a new law on the capital, the city of Kyiv, which would clearly outline what local self-government is, what the mayor’s powers are and which would also fully reflect the powers of the state government. This balance must be ensured by the new law on the capital,” Prime Minister Groysman said at the Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Groysman expressed hope that the new parliament would elaborate a new law on the capital.

"I hope that the new parliament will elaborate and the government will implement a new effective law on the capital within the framework of the decentralization reform," the incumbent Prime Minister said.
