Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit France on August 19 to hold talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on a wide range of topics, including the situation in Ukraine, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.

"Preparations are underway for a working visit by the Russian president to France on August 19. It will be a one-day visit," Russian news agency TASS quoted him as saying on Tuesday, August 13.

"The topics are obvious: bilateral Russian-French cooperation, which has a very rich economic content; international issues; ... Ukraine; and, of course, they will discuss the prospects for further work in the "Normandy format," Peskov added.

Earlier, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker stated that the representatives of the United States, Germany and France would hold another round of consultations on the Normandy format next week. He also confirmed that he kept in touch with the European partners and the next round of consultations should take place next week.

On August 7, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin agreed on a possible meeting of the Normandy Four leaders.

The last meeting in the Normandy format took place in Paris on July 13 between the foreign ministers’ advisers. They reached agreement on indefinite ceasefire from July 21. However, it did not last long. On August 6, the Russian occupation troops killed four Ukrainian troops near Pavlopil, Donetsk region.
