Poland reminds UN about Russian aggression

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz chaired a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on the involvement of children in armed conflicts.

In his speech, the minister noted that children fall first victims to war and violence. The politician emphasized that protecting children is a priority for Poland and the Polish side helps the youth in eastern Ukraine and the Middle East, the Polish Radio reports.

Czaputowicz added that the next meeting of the UN Security Council will be devoted to the issue of compliance with international law. This topic is the leading motive for Poland’s non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council: “We stand for compliance with international law. It is violated, for example, by Russia against Ukraine and Georgia. In other words, it is in Poland’s interest to strengthen the international system based on law, not on force.”

As reported, on July 29, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz emphasized during a conversation with reporters in Warsaw that security in Ukraine would be one of the priorities of Poland’s one-month presidency of the UN Security Council.
