President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has stressed that the return of peace to Donbas is a key priority of his activities.

He stated this during a meeting with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Slovakia's Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák in Kyiv, the press service of the head of state reported.

"The main purpose for me is to stop the war, ensure the ceasefire regime, and return our hostages home," Zelensky said.

According to the head of state, Ukraine has taken a number of steps to establish peace, in particular, those aimed to intensify the peace process at the Minsk platform.

"We cannot wait for a long time, as we are talking about the lives of our people, so we have already tried to restart talks in the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group. A meeting was already held. We appointed Leonid Kuchma as Ukraine’s representative in the TCG, as well as other professional people as representatives in the TCG subgroups," Zelensky said.

The president also stressed the need to move forward with a view to achieving concrete tangible results in order to "lead this process to the final".

Zelensky thanked the OSCE, in particular the Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, for the active role in resolving the situation in Donbas.

In his turn, Lajčák assured the Ukrainian side of the OSCE’s willingness to comprehensively facilitate the achievement of sustainable peace in Donbas.
