The Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has started considering a motion filed by 62 people's deputies on the constitutionality of a presidential decree on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada.

The relevant information has been published on the court's website.

"Consideration of the question on determining the form of a constitutional proceeding in the case under a constitutional motion of 62 people's deputies of Ukraine regarding the compliance with the constitution of Ukraine (constitutionality) of the presidential decree 'On the early termination of powers of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the calling of early elections'," reads the court's agenda for June 4.

During the Tuesday meeting, the court will decide whether to consider this proceeding in writing or verbally, the court's press service told Ukrinform.

Viktor Kryvenko is a judge-rapporteur in this case.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada in his inaugural speech on May 20. On May 21, he signed a decree on the early termination of parliamentary powers and the calling of snap elections on July 21.

The decree came into force on May 23 after its publication in the government's Uriadovy Kurier newspaper.

On May 24, People's Front MPs Andriy Teteruk and Ihor Alekseyev submitted a motion to the Constitutional Court regarding the unconstitutionality of the presidential decree on the early termination of the powers of the Verkhovna Rada. They asked the court to consider the motion within a month.
