MPs from the People's Front faction Andriy Teteruk and Ihor Alekseyev have submitted a motion to the Constitutional Court regarding the unconstitutionality of a presidential decree on the early termination of powers of the Verkhovna Rada, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The legal position on the unconstitutionality of the presidential act is set out in a constitutional motion. It came to the Constitutional Court today. Sixty-two deputies signed the motion. We expect the court to first determine a reporting judge who will prepare all the documents as part of this case, and then the court will continue to consider this case on the merits," Alekseyev told reporters near the court building.

He expressed hope that the court would not delay the consideration of this case. "We asked the court to consider this constitutional petition within a month's time," he said.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada in his inaugural speech on May 20. On May 21, he signed a decree on the early termination of parliamentary powers and the setting of early elections for July 21. On May 23, the decree came into force following its publication in the government's Uriadovy Kurier newspaper.
