Zelensky dismisses Muzhenko, appoints new chief of General Staff

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Viktor Muzhenko as chief of the General Staff and commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and appointed Ruslan Khomchak to this post.

The respective decrees have been published on the website of the head of state.

Muzhenko served as chief of the General Staff and commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from July 2014.

Khomchak is a lieutenant-general of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, commander of the Operational Command South.
