Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to issue a decree dissolving the parliament in the next few days, so the elections to the Verkhovna Rada could take place on July 21 or July 28.

First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko told this to reporters after consultations of the parliamentary leadership and representatives of factions with the head of state on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"As far as we understand, the new president is planning to issue such a decree [about the dissolution of parliament] not today, but in the next few days in order to comply with this term, so that the elections could be held in 60 days on Sunday. This will be either July 21 or July 28," Gerashchenko said.

Zelensky met with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and the leaders of parliamentary factions and groups on Tuesday, May 21.

The president announced the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada during his inaugural speech on May 20.
