UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expects that the spirit and the letter of the Minsk agreements will be respected and that all issues will be resolved through a constructive dialogue in the existing negotiation formats.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said this in response to a written request from an Ukrinform correspondent.

According to him, the UN expects all responsible persons to act in accordance with the spirit and the letter of the Minsk agreements approved by the Security Council and all issues to be resolved through a constructive dialogue in the existing formats.

Dujarric added that the UN underlines its commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which residents of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions have the right to apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation under a simplified procedure.

The UN Security Council will discuss the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine at a meeting on Thursday, April 25, at 22:00 Kyiv time.
