Ukrinform
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality will meet today to consider the final version of the draft law "On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as a state language".

Speaker Andriy Parubiy has stated this at a parliament’s meeting today, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

At the same time, the VR chairman has reminded that the adoption of the language bill by the Verkhona Rada is scheduled for Thursday, April 25. He has called on MPs who consider themselves patriots to be present at tomorrow’s VR sitting and vote for the bill on the Ukrainian language.

As Ukrinform reported, the bill on language was approved at first reading on October 4, 2018. The Verkhovna Rada started considering the document at second reading on February 28. Over 2,000 amendments to the document were proposed by Ukrainian lawmakers.

The bill, in particular, provides for creating the national commission on state language standards and the institution of the envoy for the protection of the state language.
