Moskal resigns as governor of Zakarpattia region

Chairman of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal has tendered his resignation, according to a statement posted on the website of the administration.

"Hennadiy Moskal has submitted to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko a statement on his resignation as chairman of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration," the statement reads.

"In accordance with Paragraph 2 of Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine 'On Local State Administrations,' the heads of local state administrations are appointed by the president of Ukraine at the request of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the term the president of Ukraine stays in office. In accordance with Article 9 of the law, the powers of the heads of local state administrations are terminated by the president of Ukraine," the statement reads.

"According to Paragraph 9 of Part 1 of Article 9 of the law and on the basis of Article 38 of the Labor Code of Ukraine, I ask you to terminate my stay on vacation and dismiss me from the post of chairman of Zakarpattia Regional State Administration on my own volition," Moskal wrote in his statement of resignation.
