Lukashenko: Belarus ready to strengthen its role in Minsk process

Belarus is ready to strengthen its role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine if Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko reach appropriate agreements.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said this in an interview with the Anadolu Turkish news agency, BelTA reports.

"Maybe, I should not have done that, but when I saw how slow this process is, how the Minsk agreements are not being met, I frankly said: if an agreement is reached between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine Putin on strengthening of the role of Belarus there, we are ready to fulfill this role. But we will not insist on being peacekeepers, intermediaries. We do not need this," Lukashenko said.
