Ukrainian political prisoner Pavlo Hryb, who declared a hunger strike after Russia’s court had sentenced him to six years of imprisonment, will be put in a separate cell at a pretrial detention facility.

The chairman of the Public Observation Commission (POC) of Rostov region, Leonid Petrashis, informed this today, according to Interfax agency.

"Pavlo Hryb on Monday wrote an official letter regarding his hunger strike. He will be examined by a doctor and put in a separate cell. The Commission members warned him that, because of the hunger strike, he won’t be able to take gastritis medication prescribed to him, and this might have a negative effect on his health,” Petrashis said.

As reported, Pavlo Hryb disappeared on August 24, 2017 in Belarus, where he went to the city of Gostomel to date a girl with whom he communicated on social networking sites.

In September, it became known that Pavlo Hryb was in a detention center in Krasnodar (Russia), charged with terrorism. At the same time, his lawyer said that Pavlo had been kidnapped by FSB officers.

On March 22, 2019, the Russian court sentenced Pavlo Hryb to six years in a prison colony of general regime.
