Turkey sees strong potential in developing military and technical projects with Ukraine
The parties discussed the situation in the Black Sea basin as a result of Russia's aggression, the NSDC’s press service reported.
"Occupation of Crimea has changed the parity of forces in the Black Sea basin," Turchynov said, stressing that Russian aggressive policy in the region is ongoing, which can be confirmed by Russia's attempts to block Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov and capture our ships in the Kerch Strait.
The interlocutors also paid attention to the deepening of bilateral military and technical cooperation. The NSDC secretary stressed that our states had many promising directions of cooperation in the military and technical sphere, in particular, in the issues of strategic importance for the defense of both countries.
In turn, the Turkish ambassador emphasized that Turkey "does not recognize the illegal occupation of Crimea and is concerned about the situation in the Black Sea".
According to him, Turkey considers defense and industrial cooperation with Ukraine not only in the context of trade relations. "We see a strong potential in establishing and developing joint projects and enterprises," he noticed.
According to the ambassador, "a strong self-sufficient Ukraine can be the best partner for Turkey on the northern coast of the Black Sea."
