Tymoshenko threatens to start presidential impeachment process

Ukrinform
Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said she intends to launch impeachment proceedings against Ukrainian President in Petro Poroshenko due to reports in the media about embezzlement in Ukraine's defense sector.

She stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

The leader of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction in parliament, Artur Herasymov, in turn, said that the facts revealed in media reports concern the period when Tymoshenko served as Ukraine's prime minister.

Earlier, the president's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Lutsenko, said that the Ukroboronprom State Concern and Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleh Hladkovsky would sue journalists of the Nashi Hroshi (Our Money) program who made allegations of embezzlement in the defense sector: "As far as I know, Ukroboronprom and Oleh Hladkovsky will sue the journalists so that they either apologize or provide irrefutable evidence."

"As soon as we began to talk about embezzlement in the army in previous years, right away there is a certain story from 2015 and it is spread before elections," Lutsenko added.
