U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has assured Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that the U.S. leadership, due to Russia's aggression in the Kerch Strait, canceled all meetings with Russians until the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

The head of state said this at a meeting with the initiators of an appeal to the UN Secretary-General for assistance in the release of the Ukrainian sailors, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"A few days ago, during the Munich Security Conference, I had a meeting with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence who emphasized that the United States leadership, due to an act of aggression in the Kerch Strait, canceled all meetings with Russians," Poroshenko said.

According to him, Americans will hold no meetings with Russians until the latter release captive Ukrainian sailors.
