Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Tomáš Petříček considers it expedient to open an office of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Mariupol.

He wrote this on Twitter while taking part in a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) on Monday.

“The EU must be more active and visible in the region. We support opening a regional liaison office of EU Advisory Mission Ukraine in Mariupol,“ the minister wrote.

He said that Denmark’s Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen at the meeting had made a report on the visit to eastern Ukraine. Both ministers visited Mariupol at the same time. “We were shocked by the serious humanitarian situation caused by the war,” Petříček wrote.

The diplomat also announced his country's support for expanding the list of persons subject to sanctions, those who were involved in the armed action in the Sea of Azov in November 2018 and the illegal detention of Ukrainian sailors. He also reiterated the demand for Russia to release the sailors.
