EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday will hold a broad discussion on Ukraine during which they are expected to support the efforts of Ukrainians on the path of reform and express their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said this before the meeting on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"We will have a discussion on Ukraine. Particularly important, I've just met the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, again. Particularly important as we come to the fifth anniversary of the events on Maidan. I can share personal memory because I was myself also in Ukraine, more or less, five years ago and I remember very well the expectations, the hopes of the Ukrainian people, especially when it comes to the reform agenda, the work on anti-corruption. Long way has been done thanks to the determination of the Ukrainians and the support of the European Union," she said.

Mogherini emphasized that the European Union would continue to provide support to Ukraine, in particular, in the process of democratic transformations and reforms.

"Especially in a year like this one, an electoral year for Ukraine will be crucial to keep attention both from the EU but also from the Ukrainians on continuing reform agenda and, obviously, our unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine," she said.

She recalled that she met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Munich last Friday and again proved the EU's position on Ukraine and the events surrounding the country.

"I made it very clear again our common European Union position about our expectations on that, for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, and definitely some steps that we have not yet seen from the Russian Federation on the Azov Sea and Kerch Strait," Mogherini said.
