The European Parliament is ready to continue to support Ukraine in the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement amid the country’s preparations for the elections.

"During this period of elections in Ukraine, the European Parliament is ready to continue its support for the implementation of the Association Agreement. The convincing majority [of Ukrainian MPs] that voted for the constitutional amendments on the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine has clearly demonstrated that no campaigns against Ukraine will prevent it from moving along this path," member of the European Parliament Rebecca Harms said at a joint briefing with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy and Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to her, after the escape of Yanukovych and the events on Maidan, the occupation of Crimea and part of Donbas, the new Ukrainian government set ambitious goals and now overcome the obstacles on the path towards them. So, the European Parliament holds a constant dialogue on what else can be done to help Ukraine win the struggle for reforms.

"Of course, when signing the Association Agreement, we were too optimistic and thought that everything would be very good, but we already see it will take a little more time," the politician said.

At the same time, she expressed optimism about further development of the country.
