EU foreign ministers to have comprehensive discussion on Ukraine on Feb. 18
A spokesperson of the European Union announced this on the eve of the ministerial meeting today, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The EU ministers will be able to have a comprehensive discussion on the situation in Ukraine, including the reform process and the issues related to the conflict. By coincidence, this discussion will take place on the same week, when the fifth anniversary of the events on Maidan will be marked. This will be a good opportunity to assess the progress that has been made since then, but also to emphasize the need to continue efforts towards reforms, in particular, in the context of the upcoming elections in Ukraine,” the EU official said.
During the meeting, the ministers will receive information from the representatives of France and Germany, who are involved in the negotiation process in the "Normandy format". The ministers will pay special attention to the humanitarian situation in eastern Ukraine.
He expressed confidence that European Union foreign ministers would confirm the EU’s strong support for Ukraine and its people. At the same time, they will not draw individual conclusions regarding Ukraine after the meeting.
