The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has welcomed the decision by the Verkhovna Rada to secure in the Constitution the country's course for acquiring NATO membership and stated that the United States will continue to support Ukraine's aspiration to join the Alliance.

The diplomatic mission wrote this on its Twitter account.

"Congratulations to the people of Ukraine on today's Rada vote resoundingly reaffirming that becoming a NATO member remains a strategic priority. The United States continues to welcome Ukraine's NATO aspirations and looks forward to one day welcoming Ukraine into the Alliance," the embassy said.

On February 7, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the president-proposed law introducing amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine (regarding the strategic course of the state for acquiring full-fledged membership of Ukraine in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization). A total of 334 people's deputies voted for the decision.
