Eleven assassination attempts on Ukrainian president prevented last year

"In 2018, about eleven assassination attempts on the President of Ukraine were prevented," Chief of the State Guard Department Valeriy Heletey said in an interview with the UA: Ukrainian Radio.

He noted that the State Guard Department staff works closely with the Security Service of Ukraine, the police and the intelligence in the process of preparing for any events involving a large number of people, especially with participation of the persons guarded.

In addition, Heletey noted that the State Guard Department employees followed the assassination attempts, which are committed in foreign countries, on the leaders of countries, the persons guarded, political leaders, studying deficiencies in the guard of such persons and the mechanism of committing an attempt.
