Poroshenko, Grybauskaite discuss threat of Russia's interference in elections

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite discussed challenges related to Russia's interference in the electoral processes in both countries and ways to counteract the existing threats.

The presidents met within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude for Lithuania’s consistent support for Ukraine and significant personal efforts of Dalia Grybauskaite in this matter.

The president also thanked Lithuania for helping Donbas and the Sea of Azov region affected by the ongoing Russian aggression.

The parties noted the necessity of further consolidated international pressure on Russia in response to the act of aggression of Russian troops against Ukrainian vessels and capture of Ukrainian sailors.

The president thanked for the resolute position of Lithuania regarding the need to introduce a new "Azov package" of the EU sanctions against Russia.

As reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko makes a working visit to Davos, Switzerland, on January 23-24.
