Parliament fails to pass bill on Ukraine’s joining EPAS

The Verkhovna Rada failed to approve bill "On Ukraine’s joining the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS)", which was submitted by President Petro Poroshenko.

An Ukrinform correspondent reported there were not enough votes to pass the bill.

"I declare draft law No.0205 rejected," said Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy.

He said he hopes that the relevant committee would submit the draft law against so that MPs could approve it at the next parliamentary session.

According to Deputy Youth and Sports Minister for European Integration Mykola Movchan, the bill was developed to improve intergovernmental cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports within the framework of the Council of Europe and is a further step towards the European integration of Ukraine.
