CEC registers Hrytsenko, Murayev, Kupriy as presidential candidates

Ukraine's Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Yevhen Murayev and Vitaliy Kupriy as candidates for the post of president of Ukraine in the election scheduled for March 31, 2019.

The commission made a respective decision at a meeting on Tuesday, January 15, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Commission members unanimously supported draft resolutions on the registration of Civil Position Party leader Anatoliy Hrytsenko and Nashi Party leader Yevhen Murayev as presidential candidates.

In addition, ten CEC members supported a draft resolution on Kupriy's registration as a candidate for president, and four CEC members abstained.

Earlier, the CEC registered five candidates for the post of Ukraine's president, namely Ihor Shevchenko, Serhiy Kaplin, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, Vitaliy Skotsyk, and Andriy Sadovy.

The electoral process for the presidential election in Ukraine began on December 31.

The nomination of candidates by political parties or by self-nomination and the submission of documents by candidates to the CEC will last until February 3, 2019. A candidate running for president or a party that nominated him or her for president must make a deposit of UAH 2.5 million.

Presidential candidates will be registered until February 8 inclusive.
