Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius and Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, the press service of the head of state has reported.

"The head of state expressed gratitude for consistent support from Estonia, Lithuania and Poland for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for the decisive condemnation of Russia's aggressive actions," the presidential press service reported on Tuesday, January 15.

According to the report, the participants in the meeting discussed the situation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea and the existing threats from Russia, taking into account an act of aggression by Russian military forces against Ukrainian ships and the capture of Ukrainian sailors in November 2018.

The sides emphasized the need to strengthen consolidated international pressure on Russia with the demand to immediately release Ukrainian captive sailors, return seized ships and ensure freedom of navigation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

The president briefed the ministers on the situation in Donbas and Russia's violation of the Minsk agreements, as well as a ceasefire regime.

Poroshenko thanked the leaders of the foreign ministries of the allies of Ukraine for actively promoting the issue of introducing a new "Azov package" of EU sanctions against Russia.

The head of state expressed hope for increased assistance from the European Commission and EU member states in support of Donbas and the Ukrainian Azov region suffering from lasting Russian aggression. In this context, he praised the decision of the EU side to send an assessment mission at the end of January to study the additional socio-economic needs of the region.
