U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch has stated that the U.S. sanctions against Russia over the conflict in Donbas are a principled position of Washington.

“Our sanctions related to the conflict in Donbas will remain in force until Russia withdraws its troops from Donbas. The Crimean sanctions will also remain in effect until Russia returns the peninsula to Ukraine,” she said in comments to the Novoye Vremya portal.

She also noted that the position of the United States remained principled.

“We urge Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements and end the conflict. Russia must release 24 captured Ukrainian sailors, as well as other illegally detained Ukrainians,” Yovanovitch said.
